The latest Hindi film Paa is a family entertainer that narrates a touching father – son relationship. One of the noticeable features of it is that the Paa song Gumm Summ Gumm. The tone is first used in the Malayalam filmy song ‘Thumbi vaa thumpa kudathin’. Both the songs are composed by the same music director Ilayaraja himself. He used the same music in few other languages also after Malayalam. Any how the song is very good and the wording he has placed are excellent. A great response is received from the audience from the day of the release of Paa.
It is also interesting to know how 67 year old Amitabh Bachan in Paa becomes 13. The Paa make-up is really amazing and praise worthy. The make up is done by two famous talented men – Hollywood’s Christien Tinsley and Dominie Till who proved their talent in The Passion of the Christ and The Lord of the Rigs respectively. Bachan make up in fact cost ten percent of the total budget of Paa Bollywood film which is approximately Rs. 15, 00, 00,000. And Big B in Paa had to sit quiet for four to five hours before shoot. Eight different layers of clay were put on his face to do the Paa make up in the film. He was also not able to speak, eat of drink while in the make room. Specially designed dentures were used to create the 13 year old boy’s voice without much effort. Though the make up gives a good impact and perfectness to the movie it is really difficult to be in such a make up. Bachan used his Paa dentures for both shoot and dubbing. Though it was really a physical pain to act in the movie Paa Bachan never showed that in the location or in the studio. That’s why he became a living legend in the Indian film industry.

Do you know that ‘Thumbe vaa’ is also a composition of Ilaiyaraja only? I am surprised how you could write without verifying facts! Ilayaraja is one of the most original composers India has ever produced!
